We recently had the opportunity to work on a custom staircase and railing for a family that had a cabin out near Champaign, IL. We started out the process by meeting with the family in our fabrication shop to go over the details and showing them all the variety of samples we offered. At the end of the meeting we had a clear plan of action as to the type of metal, the design and so fourth. We scheduled a date to go out to the cabin and measure everything. The following week we drew up some sketches and offered them a couple of options to ensure the staircase was durable and beautiful at the same time. Everyone agreed and the production started. From start to install it took us roughly 3 weeks to fabricate and get everything ready for them to move in. Installation took us 2 days to ensure everything was perfect and at the end the client simply loved the end result. The picture here is only a primed product before they installed wood threads. A lot of clients reach out to us for custom railings and or custom metal stairs and we are often asked for a combination of materials. We typically prep the metal for the other material – whether it be a glass panel for a railing or a wood thread for the stairs – everything is done by hand and ensured to be as perfect as possible. Check out our custom metal railing section for additional ideas for your next railing project.
