Modern Wrought Iron Window Guards in Chicago

W18

Window guards do two jobs at once: they keep people from getting in and, on upper floors, they keep kids from falling out. These are modern window guards for a Chicago home, square bar powder coated satin black, built to look intentional rather than institutional.

This matters more in Chicago than most places. Under Chicago’s building code, the city requires window guards on upper-floor windows in many buildings with young children, and there is an important catch: a guard on a bedroom window has to release quickly from the inside without a key or a tool, so it can’t block your way out in a fire. We build that release in, every time, because a guard that traps you is worse than no guard.

Modern square bar keeps them clean and low-profile, so they read as part of the window rather than a cage bolted over it. Powder coat is the finish for anything mounted outside, baked on and good for years against the weather, as we cover in our powder coating notes. The wrought iron is built to each opening.

If you need guards that are safe, code-aware, and do not look like a jail cell, that is what Signature Metal Works builds. Call the shop.
