French Country Belly Balcony in Chicago

A belly balcony bows outward in the middle, giving the railing a curved, three-dimensional shape instead of a flat face. This is a French Country belly balcony in Chicago, square bar powder coated satin black, and the curve is the whole point.

The belly is that gentle outward bow. It does two things: it adds a little usable depth at a window or door, and it gives the front of the building a softer, more sculptural line than a flat balcony.
