A client had a wood porch and staircase, both of which were deteriorating beyond repair due to time and weather. They had converted their building into a single family home and wanted to add additional privacy and separation. We converted the staircase into a separate suspended balcony with wood flooring, which we treated to stand up to Chicago weather. The balcony would perfectly accommodate a grill and a small table. We reinforced this belly style wrought iron balcony from the inside with structural steel to ensure it exceeded all safety standards.
